You're not the REAL Odin though right?
No, of course not.
I've had a lot of names on the internet over the years, but now I go by Odin. In the future, I may update this explaining why I changed as much as I could, however suffice to say now there are a few reasons that others decided to called me this first.
Being born in the early 90s in a rural Mid-West area of America I would have been at home wearing cowboys boots and listening to country music in my pickup; I tended to lean more towards other interests. Those being computers, the internet, video games, and metal music. Supporting the stereotypes surrounding those interests, I was not a very active or fit younger person with atrocious personal skills. Despite not being strong or fast, and thanks to a few curveballs thrown my way in life, I joined the United States Air Force and have been an Airman for 10 year exactly in January 2023.
Okay… Nice to meet you? But why start a blog?
I am not sure, and hope you can help me figure that out.
I did not have a purpose or point originally, I just wanted to see if it was something I had the technical expertise to actually pull off. This was an interesting way for me to test my chops to make sure I really understood a variety of things such as; running/maintaining a server, setting up a NGINX server/reverse proxy, building Docker containers for programs, and then making sure it all works together seamlessly. There are numerous other little things I did as well to make it look nice as well.
Now however, I have to ask myself where I am heading with this? Coming up with topics to write about, let alone interesting things that I have the credentials to write about, is incredibly hard. Luckily, I can just google the news and blindly choose something to talk about. Also, the advent of ChatGPT will help me outline things and keep me focused.
So what the plan then?
It's simple, really.
I'm going to write something new at a minimum once a week, and make it public for everyone. After a few weeks or months, I will reevaluate it all and figure out the next step. It is scary and full of unknowns, but that is okay. It is perfectly summed up by Bilbo giving advice to his nephew in The Fellowship of the Ring.
It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.
I need you to help me mind my footing during this journey. Please do so by signing up below and leaving a comment.
