I've had a lot of names on the internet over the years, but now I go by Odin. In the future, I may update this explaining why I changed as much as I could. Suffice to say now there are a few reasons that others have even started to called me this.
Being born in the early 90s in a rural Mid-West area of America, I should have been wearing cowboys boots and listening to country music in my pickup. Instead, I tended to lean more towards other interests. Those being computers, the internet, video games, and metal music. Supporting the stereotypes surrounding those interests, I was not a very active or fit younger person and have atrocious personal skills. Thanks to a few key choices in my life, I ended up joining the United States Air Force and have been an Airman for over 13 years.
Okay… Nice to meet you? But why start a blog?
I am not sure, and hope you can help me figure that out.
I did not have a purpose or point originally, I just wanted to see if it was something I had the technical expertise to actually pull off. This was an interesting way for me to test my chops and make sure I really understood a variety of things such as; running/maintaining a server, setting up a NGINX server/reverse proxy, composing Docker containers, and then making sure it all works together seamlessly. There are numerous other little things I did as well to make it look nice as well.
Now I have this website and this platform…
So what the plan then?
It's simple, really.
I'm going to write something new at a minimum once a week, and make it public for everyone. After a few weeks or months, I will reevaluate it all and figure out the next step. It is scary and full of unknowns, but that is okay. It is perfectly summed up by Bilbo giving advice to his nephew in The Fellowship of the Ring.
It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.
I need you to help me mind my footing during this journey. Please do so by signing up below and leaving a comment.
